What are you thankful for?
Thanksgiving is a beautiful time to reflect on all of God’s blessings. Every year, I thank him for my family and for allowing me to spend another year with them. I also thank him because we have food to eat. This year, I am specially thankful for being able to walk away from a vehicle crash that could have been worse.
As my wife and I were coming back to Kansas City over the weekend, our vehicle was struck by another vehicle on the highway. The impact caused us to veer off the road where the vehicle rolled over before landing right side up. I felt how God sent angels to ensure the vehicle landed right side up and our lives were not touched. When the vehicle stopped, my wife and I looked at each other and thanked God for keeping us alive. The vehicle was a total loss, but my wife and I managed to walk away with a few muscle aches and strains. While many of the first responders and medical personnel lauded us for being lucky, we were quick to give God the glory for allowing us to walk out without major injuries. Unfortunately, the person who struck our vehicle somehow managed to get out of his car, which landed upside down, and flee the scene.
The message I want to give with this testimony is that, this Thanksgiving Day, let’s put aside our differences. Forgive those family members you haven’t talked to for years. Hug your children, even if they’re adults, and tell them you love them. Talk about Jesus instead of politics. Cherish the time you spend with loved ones because everything can change in a second. So, what are you thankful for? My prayer is that you are thankful for the blessings God has bestowed upon us. Continue to seek God, and remember to continue preaching the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ.
May God’s Peace be upon you and your family,
Bishop Luis Duperon
